Swansea Uplands 0 Aberaeron 60
Amassing another record score, Aberaeron keep the pressure on the front runners with this emphatic win over hapless Swansea Uplands. Following another week of inactivity, it was a case of brushing away the cobwebs once again before putting the hosts to the sword with a real scintillating second half performance. Aberaeron 2nd XV 12 Lampeter 2nd XV 0 On a damp evening at Parc Drefach, it was first blood for the Seagulls before the Boxing Day encounter when the visitors will undoubtedly be eager for revenge. A keenly contested game was evenly balanced until a real flash of enterprise from the home backs resulted in wing Trystan Jones crossing under the posts, the move having started on their own line wi ...

Aberaeron bounced back to winning ways with this hard fought victory against a plucky Furnace side. But for long periods the result could have gone either way before the visitors fire was finally doused. The biggest difference on the day was the home side’s supremacy up front with the rolling mauls being a major factor in gaining territory. As in the previous week, forward possession was in plenti ...

Despite overall forward dominance, Aberaeron’s failure to convert pressure to points resulted in the first set back of the season for the Seagulls. Starting the day joint top of the division, both teams would have realised how vital this encounter would be if aspirations of promotion come next May are to be realised. As it turned out the enforced changes in the visitors backline meant a lack of c ...

Despite the final scoreline , Aberaeron had to fight hard to register their second success of the season. For long periods in both halves the Saints dogged defence kept the Seagulls at bay, and it took flashes of brilliance to create the try scoring opportunities. From the kick off Aber were guilty of several indiscretions and the visitors took advantage from the boot of Colin Reynolds to take the ...

Aberaeron XV 21 Aberystwyth XV 19
Taking advantage of the World Cup free weekend, an Aberystwyth XV provided the ideal runout for the Drefach outfit on Friday night. With many blank weekends between now and Xmas, it is important it is important to keep momentum in the early part of the season and this “competitive” fixture provided the ideal opportunity for both teams to retain interest whilst ...

Aberaeron 24 Llandybie 18
A close encounter at Parc Drefach saw the Seagulls just manage to gain the spoils against a gutsy Llandybie side in the opening game of the season. The never say attitude of the visitors resulted in an exciting finish with Aber more than relieved to hear the final whistle. What looked like a comfortable success for much of the first half became a frustrating second pe ...

The Seagulls extended their unbeaten record to six as they eventually disposed of a dogged Llandybie side who started the day in third position in the league. In fairness the game should have been over as a contest in the first half as Aber had opened up a 27 point advantage with the wind on their backs, with the visitors showing very little in the way of attacking options. Their only saving grace ...

Aberaeron’s revival continues with a fifth win on the bounce against a plucky Pontiets outfit. Under difficult conditions with a gusty wind the contest was settled in the final minutes when the Seagulls gained just reward their second half domination deserved. For much of the game, especially the first period, the two teams cancelled each other out with very little penetration of opponents defence ...

Despite having to contend with uncontested scrums, Aberaeron ran out comfortable winners against their Pembrokeshire opponents. Llangwm, were in third position in the league before kick off and it was a surprise that they were unable to call on a front row from the start. The home side’s forte in recent weeks has been the control of the front five in the set pieces, but to their credit they adapte ...

A successful penalty in the final minutes saw the Seagulls extend their recent run of success with this hard fought victory against Cefneithin. The result however was in the balance right up to the final whistle as the visitors tried in vain the salvage the game but were thwarted by stout defending from the home defence. Both teams were evenly matched and it was of little surprise that the score ...

In the mud and rain in Scarlet country, the upturn in the Seagulls fortunes continued with a comprehensive defeat of Furnace. Followers of the Parc Drefach outfit are normally used to flowing back line action but the glory on this occasion undoubtedly went to the front eight, who completely outfought the home side in all aspects of the game. It was clear from the start that the elements would prov ...

The long awaited first success on home soil finally arrived against Fishguard in arguable the Seagulls best performance of the season. A few positional changes in the starting line up raised eyebrows before the kickoff but this proved to be a master plan by coach Alwyn Davies as the home side controlled the game from start to finish. The game was virtually over as a contest by half way as Aber had ...

Despite the final scoreline this was a much improved performance by the Seagulls. The league leaders on their own patch was always going to be a steep hill to climb and given Aber’s recent form, they must be given credit for restricting the hosts to five tries on the day. The only disappointment was that they came away without a point scored, but given Tycroes’s record of only conceding five point ...

Their season of woe continues for the Seagulls as they tumbled to a shock defeat against lowly St Davids. On the day credit must go to the Saints who despite failing to score with the wind at their backs in the first half produced a brave display in the second period outscoring Aber by two tries to nil. For whatever reason last season’s form is strangely missing this term and there is a need to bo ...

Not a classic by any means but a second consecutive win on the road provided a welcome boost for the Seagulls in their disappointing start to the campaign. Bynea may be pointless and marooned at the foot of the table but to their credit they never threw in the towel and asked the visitors defence several questions especially in the second half. Aber on the other hand, despite a stuttering display ...

Aber’s season suffered a disappointing start with an opening day defeat at Pontyates. Under blustery conditions the visitors downfall was the result of failing to amass a first half advantage with the wind on their backs. From the depths of despair following 3 consecutive defeats the Seagulls season finally ignited with this comprehensive win against previously unbeaten Llandybie. The final scoreline may have flattered the visitors, but Aber’s third defeat of the season was the result of lack of finishing and cutting edge. The cause was not helped by no less than 7 enforced changed in the starting lineup, with injuries and unavailabilities becoming a major concern. Penygroes on the other hand are reaping the reward of a flourishing junior section with several of last year’s ...
