Llangwm 6 Aberaeron 25
Llangwm proved a happy hunting ground for the Seagulls as they returned home with a bonus point win. Never the easiest of places to visit with a vociferous support and often abrasive approach, Aberaeron snuffed out any chance of a home success from the outset, with only a lack of clinical finishing preventing a far bigger margin at the end. Despite again having to reshuffle, on this occasion missing hooker Rhydian Harries and long term absentee Ywain ap Dylan, they were fortunate to welcome back Dylan Evans and Dan Forbes to strengthen the backline. The hard work however was done up front with Tudur Jenkins reverting to his usual position on the flank to compliment the hard working Neil Snowdon and towering presence of Alistair Severs. Not to be outdone Leighton Daniel provided quality ball from the lineout throughout the afternoon, with partner Nathan Best forever close to the fray. The game was really over at the break, the visitors having opened up a 20points to 6 advantage. A finely struck penalty from Euryl Rees opened the scoring, and with the floodgates on the point of opening there were quick tries from full back Aled Davies(pictured) and outside half Evans. The loudest cheer was however reserved for Deiniol Evans, crashing over the line for his first try of the season and unlucky minutes later when play was halted, the poor referee this time in the way of the burly prop. Llangwm were limited in attacking ideas depending on the kick to gain ground, but the handling of the Aber defence was exemplary, Rhodri Severs on the wing being the pick of the bunch, and looking to attack at every opportunity and unlucky not to cross himself. A few errors early in the second half did give the hosts a glimmer of an unlikely comeback but the fourth try from Forbes and bonus point finally doused the fire and the final whistle signalled a perfect afternoon. After the disappointments of the previous weeks this success proved a welcome lift to morale especially with a visit to Loughor for Swalec Cup next on the agenda.
