Captain Williams to the fore.

Despite the final scoreline , Aberaeron had to fight hard to register their second success of the season. For long periods in both halves the Saints dogged defence kept the Seagulls at bay, and it took flashes of brilliance to create the try scoring opportunities. From the kick off Aber were guilty of several indiscretions and the visitors took advantage from the boot of Colin Reynolds to take the lead. This was however short lived as the hosts subjected the Saints defence to continuous pressure and outside half Dylan Evans brought the scores level with a well struck penalty. As the half progressed so did the urgency in the home attacks and a purple patch near the break brought three tries to gain the advantage for the second period. Iestyn Thomas playing in the centre was first on the board, his determination belying his slight frame after brother Rhodri had just failed to open his account . This was soon followed with a captain’s try from Dylan Williams(pictured) being on hand to receive the final pass and try scoring lock Leighton Daniels added the third with the only response coming from another penalty.
The home contingent would have expected Aber to continue in the same vein in the second half but it took until midway through to breach the visitors defence to extend the lead. Again it was perseverance that paid off as Daniels just managed to reach the line for his second of the afternoon. Evans kept the scoreboard ticking over with the conversions but it was skipper Williams who stole the show, sniping at the base of his front eight to finish off the game with a brace of his own. Never a classic to watch, this was a much needed run out for the Seagulls with the focus next Saturday on the Welsh Cup and an intriguing trip to B P Llandarcy in the Neath valley.
Sponsors for the game were Ifer P Jones, D J Jones and Gwyndaf Davies with Alan Coch doing the match ball.
