Llangwm 0 Aberaeron 79
A rare Sunday afternoon outing saw Aberaeron complete the double over Llangwm with the success being achieved in emphatic style. After running up a cricket score two weeks earlier ,at Parc Drefach against the same opponents greater resilience was expected from the home side this time, but on the day dogged defence alone was scant answer to an attacking display from the visitors that was a pleasure to witness. From one to fifteen and indeed a strong bench, it was a case of how many, and in the end the home line was crossed a total of thirteen times with no response. The all important bonus point had been achieved within the first quarter as possession was plentiful from all set piece phases and by halftime the advantage had been stretched to forty three points. The game continued in the same mode after the break with Aberaeron showing a ruthless streak with pace in abundance behind the scrum, creating opportunities at will, and duly rewarded with a further six second half tries. For the record there were hat tricks for effervescent hooker Gareth Flynn and captain Tudur Jenkins with centre Tom Taylor and outside half Llyr Davies claiming a brace apiece. Single scores were recorded by centre Bleddyn Henson, wing Rhodri Thomas and a first of the season for resolute prop Owen Wozencroft. It was also good to see full back Iestyn Thomas returning to the fray and he helped the score along with a total of twelve points from the boot. Coach Alwyn Davies also had the luxury of calling on two replacement props with little adverse affect on proceedings and it was indeed a happy camp that made their way home on Sunday night. St Clears will be next up on Saturday and more of the same will be very much welcomed to maintain momentum into the final phase of the season.
