St Davids 12 Aberaeron 9
St Davids 12 Aberaeron 9

Their season of woe continues for the Seagulls as they tumbled to a shock defeat against lowly St Davids. On the day credit must go to the Saints who despite failing to score with the wind at their backs in the first half produced a brave display in the second period outscoring Aber by two tries to nil. For whatever reason last season’s form is strangely missing this term and there is a need to boost confidence with far tougher encounters to come in the weeks ahead.
Aber had coped well in the first half playing into the wind comfortably protecting their line from the odd foray from the home side, and the scoreline remained pointless at the break . Expected to take advantage after the restart, a lack of direction and some poor finishing gave the Saints considerable hope and despite Aber taking the lead from a penalty from Euryl Rees, the Saints hit back when some weak tackling allowed the home number eight to wriggle over for a try that was also converted. As the game progressed the play became frantic and despite promising positions Aber were unable to capitalise except for a brace of penalties from Rees to put his side narrowly ahead. With the final whistle beckoning the home side again gained the advantage after a series of rolling mauls, and despite a fright right at the death when Getin Morgan was unlucky not to score, they survived until the end for an unlikely success.
Aber tale of woe continues and they will have severe test of character next up with a trip to leaders Tycroes on Saturday.
