Not a classic by any means but a second consecutive win on the road provided a welcome boost for the Seagulls in their disappointing start to the campaign. Bynea may be pointless and marooned at the foot of the table but to their credit they never threw in the towel and asked the visitors defence several questions especially in the second half. Aber on the other hand, despite a stuttering display were comfortable winners in the end with the points in the bag by the half way mark. The game will probably be remembered for a hat trick of tries from Rhodri Thomas, the left wing displaying excellent finishing skills and fulfilling the promise shown in early season. In the opening period, despite conceding a try in the first few minutes due to shoddy defence, tries came at regular intervals with a much changed back line playing an expansive game at every opportunity. Aled Davies at full back provided a cutting edge with new centre partnership Rhys ap Dylan and Wyre Davies providing the ammunition for Thomas to claim the glory. Bynea had little to offer behind the scrum and their attacking ideas were confined to tight forward phases which the Aber eight did well to contain on more than one occasion. Aber were 22-8 to the good by half time with the additional score come from Neil Snowdon, the no eight leading by example and ably supported by his fellow forwards. The visitors would have hoped to add considerably to the score in the second half but had to be content with a single try from Dylan Williams, the close range score coming in the opening minutes. From then on, despite considerable effort from both sides, a lack of quality possession served to nullify opportunities from promising positions and although Bynea gained a glimmer of hope through a converted try, outside half Euryl Rees struck the vital penalty to kill off the opposition. With home form disappointing, success on the road is encouraging and can only improve confidence, and Aber will aim to build on the success with another away encounter, a rearranged match at St Davids on Saturday.
